The Music Department trains students in the area of Church Music. We desire to give a thorough music education while keeping the focus on ministry. The department also handles the production of CD’s through our own Heartland Baptist Studios, as well as the sale and distribution of the CD’s at chapel sessions, special meetings and for traveling groups. The department handles the scheduling for the traveling singing groups and the Vacation Bible School Team. The following are the areas of responsibilities for the Music Department and a brief overview.
The department coordinates the various teachers who instruct students, both music and non-music majors, in voice, piano, and instrument of choice.
Choir and Ensemble are required for music majors and Orchestra is required for Instrumental majors. In addition, these musical activities are available to non-music majors depending on their schedule. All three activities participate in chapels and recitals, and the choir joins the
The department coordinates the recitals required of music majors as well as special recitals of the Orchestra and Ensembles. Music majors at the junior level are required to prepare for a mini recital prior to a more lengthy and comprehensive senior recital.
The Music Department is responsible for the scheduling and approving of specials presented during the Tuesday and Thursday chapels. In addition, in conjunction with the Executive Vice President, they coordinate music for the special college meetings.
