Counseling Series

Counseling Series Booklets by Vickie Jett, Ph.D., Dean of Women

It is a great privilege and honor that I write the forward to this guidebook that my wife Vickie authored. I am thankful to the Lord for using her for many years as my helper, the mother of my three children (whom are all currently serving the Lord in full time ministry) and as an awesome pastor’s wife. She has served as the Dean of Woman at Heartland Baptist Bible College since 1998 along with teaching and counseling the ladies at Heartland. I believe this guidebook will be a great tool to add to your counseling reference material.

As a pastor for nearly twenty years prior to joining Heartland Baptist Bible College as the Dean of Students, there were, at times, opportunities to counsel people with personal problems.  I must admit that the task of counseling was one of the most difficult responsibilities of my pastoral ministry, primarily because I could not find good sound Biblical and local church material. I was always looking for tools to help me with counseling, and occasionally felt inadequate for the task at hand.  Honestly, I have seen the Lord use the material at Heartland Baptist Bible College in the lives of our students and staff. There is no doubt that the Word of God is adequate to meet people’s needs.  The Scripture itself in II Peter 1:3 tells us that God has given us all things that pertain to life (human everyday living) and godliness (spiritual everyday Christian living).

The overall purpose of this counseling guide booklet is to provide a Biblical counseling tool to assist those within the body of the local New Testament Baptist Church under the oversight of the pastor of the local church.  It is our intent that the pastor will be involved in all counseling within that local church body. The counseling guide booklets were designed as homework for the counselee under the guidance of the pastor or counselor, and they may also be useful as a discipleship series.

If you need assistance or clarification, please feel free to contact Jamie or Vickie Jett at Heartland Baptist Bible College, (405) 943-9330, ext. 135.
