Counseling Series Booklets
by Jamie Jett, Ph.D., and Vickie Jett, Ph.D.

As a pastor for nearly twenty years prior to joining Heartland Baptist Bible College as the Dean of Students, there were, at times, opportunities to counsel people with personal problems.  I must admit that the task of counseling was one of the most difficult responsibilities of my pastoral ministry, primarily because I could not find good sound Biblical and local church material.  I was always looking for tools to help me with counseling, and occasionally felt inadequate for the task at hand.  I was grateful and excited when the Lord gave my wife and I the opportunity to receive training in Biblical Counseling.  Honestly, I have seen the Lord use this material at Heartland Baptist Bible College in the lives of our students and staff.  There is no doubt that the Word of God is adequate to meet people’s needs.  The Scripture itself in II Peter 1:3 tells us that God has given us all things that pertain to life (human everyday living) and godliness (spiritual everyday Christian living).

The overall purpose of these counseling guide booklets is to provide a Biblical counseling tool to assist those within the body of the local New Testament Baptist Church under the oversight of the pastor of the local church.  It is our intent that the pastor will be involved in all counseling within that local church body.  The counseling guide booklets were designed as homework for the counselee under the guidance of the pastor or counselor, and they may also be useful as a discipleship series.

If you need assistance or clarification, please feel free to contact us, Jamie or Vickie Jett, at Heartland Baptist Bible College, (405) 943-9330, ext. 185.
